D768(QSZ-2) Quick-cure Inorganic Zinc Silicate Paint
1. Introduction:
D768(QSZ-2) is a two-component, self-curing, water-borne inorganic Zinc silicate paint with outstanding resistance against weathering and abrasion. It is composed of plenty of zinc powder and special silicate which served as adhesive and characterized by excellent performance and good application features (i.e., no odor, no toxicity, un-explosion and non-inflammablity on the fire). The coat with both electrochemically cathodic protection and physical shield functions can be formed on the steel structure surface , and worked at below 400℃. Due to the excellent properties, it can be widely used on various steel structures and facilities, tanks, instruments, etc. working on the high temperature for long-term anticorrosion in the severe marine or
atmosphere environment .
There is no any organic solvent and a little latex in the D768(QSZ-2) paint. When RH is below 85%, it cures by water evaporation within short time and needn’t post-cure procedure. The interval of drying to touch is 15-30 min, to topcoat is 2 hours.
2. Comprehensive protection mechanism
1) D768(QSZ-2) has a little organic resin latex. After curing, the film formed as inorganic Si-O-Si network and organic resin compound film integrated with zinc cation, the sun long-term shining has hardly any influence for its anti-corrosion function.
2) After coating and curing, the film works by sacrificial action of the zinc, the sacrificial action is slower, and more important, the oxidation products react with the silicate to fill the pores of the coating, and eventually seal off the coating to form a permanent, impermeable film, which is banded with steel substrate chemically, instead of traditionally physical to the steel substrate. The banded strength is more than 7.0 Mpa between steel substrate and the coating.
3) Zinc in dry film is more than 90% by weight, and zinc particles contact at close hand with the steel structure and themselves. So the film formed has special and strong electrochemical protection to the steel substrate.
3. Wide fields of application
1) D768(QSZ-2) is a inorganic Zinc silicate primer with outstanding resistance against corrosion, more important , with the properties of excellent resistant against abrasion, impulsion and weathering, it can be widely used on various steel structures and facilities for long-term anti-corrosion, such as: bridge, pipe, mine equipment, tank, anti-rust banister for highway, steel tower, steel lamp pole. So D768(QSZ-2) inorganic zinc silicate can be called the king of anti-corrosion paint.
2) D768(QSZ-2) inorganic zinc silicate offers maximum corrosion protection even in a severe salt-fog testing environment. More important, while the iron plant painted by D768(QSZ-2) was immersed in man-made sea water or tap water for one year, the prime all showed no wrinkling, blistering, loss of adhesion or other visible defects. So it will play very important role in corrosion protection field for offshore platform, underwater engineering, undersea pipe project, underground engineering, ship, steel dock and so on. In the meantime, due to the paint is no toxicity and has no pollution for water, It can protect water line system for water supply, instead of traditional protection method and increase the line life.
3) D768(QSZ-2) offers maximum resistance to steel substrate with long-term immersion of various oils, intensively resistant for strong solvents, including aromatics, alcohol, ether, austere, ketone, etc, and there is no bad influence to the immersion liquid. While the film is fully cured, zinc particles contact at close hand with the steel structure and themselves. So it has good and stable conductibility and long time cathodic protection. Then D768(QSZ-2) inorganic zinc silicate is particularly suitable for the corrosion protection of the inside of tank for the petroleum or chemical engineering product. There are more long-term using experiences used in petroleum utilities, storage tanks and pipe trestles, inside of ship space for oil or chemical product in Japan, USA.
4) The film of D768(QSZ-2) has fine heat-resistant performance. While the plant painted was sintered to 450℃ in oven for 1 hour, the bonded strength did not decrease. So D768(QSZ-2) is a inorganic Zinc silicate with outstanding resistance against heat to 450℃. It can work below 400℃ for long-term anti-corrosion, and there is no influence for bonded strength between the film and steel substrate. The D768(QSZ-2) will be used in various facility , which need corrosion protection at or below 400℃, such as: steel chimney, inside and outside of heat-changer, high temperature facility of steel or chemical engineering industry , anti-corrosive primer of anti-fire paint for super-construct steel structure, etc.
4. Excellent performance of application
Since French engineer Sorel suggested that steel can be protected from rust by zinc powder coating, various paints and technologies about it occurred. These are post-cure, water-borne inorganic zinc silicate paint, self-cure, solvent -borne , inorganic zinc-rich paint , thermal spray zinc technology, and our D768(QSZ-2) self-curing, water-borne inorganic Zinc silicate paint . They all have excellent anti-corrosive property, but the coating performance is very different. There we give the differences about coating performance of these paints or the technology, From the table 1, we can draw a conclusion that the D768(QSZ-2) is the best.

A list of the principal benefits
★Fast cure/water resistance, in 2 hours.
★Exceptional hardness, in 2hours.
★Mudcracking resistance, excellent even when applied well in excess of the normal 75 microns.
★Recoatability/Repairability.
★No solvents: equipment can be clean with water.
★Self-inspecting over organic contaminant, that is, they crack and dis-bond immediately if they are applied over a contaminated surface.
★Excellent mixing and application properties(i.e., material can be applied to a blasted steel surface, under ideal conditions, with a variety of equipment by personnel skilled to varying degrees without apparent effects on film integrity and without film defects).
★Excellent long-term performance without top-coating even in marine environments.
★Cost advantage over multi-coat systems.
★Easy, low cost maintenance
These advantages come from a new silicate processing technology.
